Overview

The Broker is responsible for maintaining and coordinating relationships with internal producers and external markets. The role is to ensure the right information flows among Arthur J Gallagher and our carriers and between the appropriate persons. The Broker will help overall growth objectives through effective marketing.

How you'll make an impact

  • Strategic planning for the placement of business with appropriate insurers/underwriters
  • Development of relationships with producers and key underwriters/insurers
  • Development of market support to win and retain business
  • Support Producers in preparing detailed, clear & concise submissions for the marketplace
  • Support Producers in the development of new business
  • Preparation of client proposals and market comparisons
  • Marketing of middle market accounts, including key and difficult placements

About you

  • Completion of post-secondary an asset
  • License  crucial to provincial licensing jurisdictions mandatory for the position (Level II preferred), along with management of continuing education hours
  • Insurance designations and/or courses completed towards designations an asset
  • 3+ years of broking experience in the marketplace
  • Existing, successful relationships with a number of insurers
  • Ambitious, creative and resourceful
  • Ability to learn on a continual basis through educational opportunities and collaboration with colleagues
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong analytical, organization and time management skills. Strong analytical and decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated experience in leading change and building strategic relations
  • Strong influencing and negotiation skills
  • Well-versed in computer and software skills. Familiar with insurance document management software (e.g. EPIC)
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work
  • Ability to multi‐task between a variety of tasks, projects, and deadlines
  • Highly motivated and results focused maintaining the highest degree of ethics and integrity resulting in exceptional client service
  • Solution oriented with a problem-solving mind-set and the ability to develop resourceful and innovative approaches and solutions
