Overview
Risk Placement Services (RPS) is seeking a skilled and motivated Commercial Underwriter specializing in Human Services. This remote position requires a dynamic individual with strong analytical and decision-making skills to manage a busy desk effectively. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or at least 3 years of related experience in the niche of Human Services or Healthcare underwriting. The underwriter will handle both new business and renewals within their assigned territory and will be responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with agents and brokers to ensure timely and efficient service.
How you'll make an impact
- Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Human Services accounts, focusing on Property, General Liability, Inland Marine, Crime, Professional Liability, Abusive Conduct Liability, and Excess.
- Analyze and assess risk to make informed underwriting decisions that align with company guidelines and profitability targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers to facilitate effective communication and timely service delivery.
- Handle both new business and renewal underwriting for assigned territory, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
- Utilize analytical skills to evaluate risk exposures and determine appropriate pricing and coverage terms.
- Manage a busy desk efficiently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and achieve business objectives.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or a minimum of 3 years of relevant underwriting experience.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills with the ability to assess complex risk exposures.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting while managing multiple priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; familiarity with ImageRight is advantageous.
- Willingness to travel as needed to meet business requirements.
Compensation and benefits
We offer a competitive and comprehensive compensation package. The base salary range represents the anticipated low end and high end of the range for this position. The actual compensation will be influenced by a wide range of factors including, but not limited to previous experience, education, pay market/geography, complexity or scope, specialized skill set, lines of business/practice area, supply/demand, and scheduled hours.
